On 2 and 3 October, the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Burgos will host the 1st International Conference on Early Childhood Care and Technology in the 21st Century. The aim of this conference is to present the results of the development of the project ‘Specialized and updated training supporting advance technologies for early childhood’, eEarlyCare-T. This conference is part of the programme of activities organised on the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the Faculty of Health Sciences.

eEarlyCare-T is an interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and innovative project, focused on updating the training of practising professionals and new professionals in the field of early childhood care (ages 0-6 years).

The aim of the meeting is to disseminate the intellectual results of the project and to address the issue of digitalisation of early care for children with different affectations in 21st century society. The conference has 141 registered participants (more than 50 in person and the rest online), from various early care centres in Spain, and can be followed live on TVUBU.

The inauguration will take place on Wednesday, October 2, from 10:00 am and will be attended by Delfín Ortega Sánchez, Vice-Rector for Social Responsibility, Culture and Sport; María Ángeles Martínez Martín, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences; and María Consuelo Sáiz Manzanares, coordinator of the European eEarlyCare-T Project.

The inaugural conference will be given by Dr Francisco Alcantud Marín, Professor of Developmental Psychology and Education at the University of Valencia, under the title ‘Early Intervention: challenges in the Society of the 21st Century’.

During the conference, interactive workshops will be held which will allow participants to access the virtual laboratories developed within the Virtual Learning Platform developed in the project. The eEarlyCare-T project has been selected by the European Union in the SALTO 2023 Awards as one of the three best European projects in the field of ‘Digital Transformation’.

Part of the results of the project are available in open access (in Spanish and English) in the books published by the Publications and Institutional Image Service of the University of Burgos. They can be consulted in the Publications Catalogue.
