At ASTICAN, sustainability and operational efficiency go hand in hand. We continue to support projects that help the maritime sector move towards more responsible and energy‑efficient operations, aligned with current environmental and regulatory challenges.

As part of the Eco‑Navigation Programme (PRR – Recovery and Resilience Plan), new installations have recently been completed on board the vessel Jaime S. These works were designed to improve the vessel’s energy performance while optimising the use of more sustainable fuels, reinforcing its alignment with decarbonisation objectives.

One of the key milestones of the project was the installation of the BioHFO system, which enables improved management and optimisation of fuel blends. This system represents an important step towards more efficient fuel usage and supports the adoption of alternative solutions with a lower environmental impact.

In parallel, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) were integrated into the vessel’s cooling and ventilation systems. By allowing equipment to operate according to real operational demand, these systems contribute to more efficient energy consumption and improved overall performance.

The project was further strengthened through the implementation of performance monitoring and optimisation systems, providing enhanced operational control and supporting more informed, data‑driven decision‑making.

Together, these measures support the vessel’s compliance with the maritime sector’s current goals in decarbonisation, energy efficiency and sustainability. They also reflect ASTICAN’s ongoing commitment to supporting the energy transition through practical, real‑world solutions developed at the shipyard.

The energy transition is being built step by step — and it is also being built from the shipyard.
