The Future of Finance Scholarship Fund, a non-profit organization launched through a collaborative effort led by Prime Capital Financial and a broader network of industry leaders and advocates, has surpassed $100,000 raised since its launch in 2023. The fund supports young women pursuing careers in the financial advisory profession.
The most recent fundraising effort generated $75,802 during Prime Capital Financial’s Advisor Business Forum, marking the fund’s largest annual increase. The growth highlights the firm’s broader effort to strengthen the pipeline of women entering financial services.
While women control a growing share of personal wealth in the United States, they represent less than a quarter of financial advisors nationwide. The Future of Finance Scholarship Fund was established to help address this imbalance by reducing financial barriers for young women pursuing degrees and professional pathways in finance.
Since 2023, the fund has awarded scholarships to five recipients supporting their academic journeys and professional aspirations. The latest funding will support additional scholarships this year, further expanding the program’s reach.
“We believe the future of financial advice depends on building a more inclusive and representative pipeline of talent,” said Glenn Spencer, chief executive officer of Prime Capital Financial. “This scholarship offers financial support while also opening doors and expanding access so the next generation of advisors reflects the clients and communities we serve.”
One of the scholarship recipients, Olivia Coates, exemplifies the program’s mission in action. At just eight years old, she asked her father, a recruiter for financial advisors, to build a PowerPoint presentation explaining what advisors do and how the stock market works. By ninth grade, she had him open a custodial IRA so she could begin investing herself. Now a student at Grand Canyon University, Coates has used scholarship support to focus her time on finance clubs, networking and professional development opportunities instead of juggling multiple part-time jobs. She is on track to graduate early as she prepares for a career in financial services.
“Creating meaningful change in our industry requires sustained commitment and real investment,” said Terra McBride, the scholarship board chair and chief marketing officer of Prime Capital Financial. “By supporting students like Olivia, we are helping cultivate confident and capable leaders who will shape the future of wealth management.”
The scholarship initiative was launched by Spencer and McBride in collaboration with peers, partners and advocates across the financial services industry who shared a common goal: strengthening the talent pipeline and expanding access for women pursuing advisory careers. Leading industry partners supporting the most recent fundraising efforts included American Century, CBS Brokerage, KKR, J.P. Morgan, Forum Investment Group and Prime Capital Financial.
Prime Capital Financial’s Advisor Business Forum brings together employees from across the country to collaborate and share best practices as they build their careers. The scholarship fundraising efforts reflect the firm’s ongoing commitment to developing the next generation of advisors and advancing a stronger, more inclusive profession.
