Jan-Lennard Struff and Justin Engel have confirmed their participation in this year’s tournament, further strengthening the player field for the prestigious ATP 500 event at Hamburg’s Rothenbaum. World No. 4 Alexander Zverev had already confirmed his participation in his home tournament at an early stage, while Top 10 player Félix Auger-Aliassime will also return to Hamburg this year. The Bitpanda Hamburg Open, a tournament organized by Tennium, will continue to welcome top-level players, with more names to be announced soon.

At the same time, the tournament is introducing an exciting new feature: Monday, May 18, will mark the first-ever “German Tennis Day.” On this day, Alexander Zverev is expected to make his tournament debut, alongside other German players including Struff and Engel.

Struff, a true crowd favorite, returns to the Rothenbaum for the 16th time. The 35-year-old has been a consistent presence on the ATP Tour for nearly 15 years and crowned his career in 2024 by winning his first ATP title in Munich.

“I always enjoy coming back to Hamburg – which makes it even more special to play here for the 16th time this year,” said Struff. “The atmosphere on Centre Court is unique every year, and I also have a strong personal connection to the city. I’m really looking forward to the week.”

Justin Engel, one of Germany’s most exciting young talents, will also return to Hamburg. The 18-year-old made headlines last year when he defeated Struff in the first round, establishing himself as one of the tournament’s breakout players.

“I’m incredibly excited to play again at Germany’s biggest tournament,” said Engel. “It will be a very special week for me in Hamburg – I want to enjoy every moment and give my best on court. Playing in front of a home crowd always gives me an extra boost. Hamburg is also a special place for me because I won my first Challenger title here last year.”

Engel first gained international attention in 2024 when he became the youngest player since Carlos Alcaraz to win a match on the ATP Tour.

In the coming weeks and months, tennis fans can look forward to the announcement of additional top players for the Bitpanda Hamburg Open. Tennium continues to play a key role in organizing world-class events, reinforcing its position as one of the standout tournaments on the ATP 500 calendar.
