The Council of Scientific Advisers reviews research progress and provides strategic guidance for future initiatives
From 21 to 22 April 2026, the thirty-second session of the ICGEB Council of Scientific Advisers (CSA) was held at the Trieste Component. The Council comprises fifteen distinguished scientists from around the world, all leading figures in the international life sciences community.
This annual meeting, held in rotation across the three ICGEB Components, reviews the research and development activities carried out by ICGEB laboratories and provides strategic guidance for future initiatives.
The first day was dedicated to scientific presentations, during which the Council met with Principal Investigators from ICGEB Trieste, who presented their main research activities and key results achieved over the past year. In the afternoon, a poster session was held in the ICGEB Atrium, where fellows from different laboratories had the opportunity to present their work and engage directly with Council members.
The second day featured the CSA plenary meeting, focused on an overall review of ICGEB activities. The session was attended also by the Directors of the other two Components, Dr Ramesh V. Sonti (ICGEB New Delhi) and Dr Luiz Zerbini (ICGEB Cape Town), who presented the research activities carried out at their respective sites.
The Council’s discussions and recommendations will contribute to shaping the strategic direction of ICGEB’s scientific research and future development.
