THE ROLE OF SUSTAINABLE INNOVATIONS WITHIN THE TEMPEST PROJECT
OnMay 4, 2026
The TEMPEST project has now reached its conclusion
Launched in May 2023, the TEMPEST project concluded in April 2026, marking the end of a collaborative effort to advance battery innovation in Europe. Over the course of the project, partners worked together to address key challenges related to battery performance, safety, and sustainability, contributing to the development of next-generation energy storage solutions.
TEMPEST focused on exploring new approaches to battery design and materials, with the aim of improving reliability while reducing environmental impact. The project supported the transition towards safer, more efficient, and more sustainable energy systems across multiple transport applications.
Among its key results, TEMPEST developed improved battery housing concepts offering greater protection and durability. It also explored new ways to monitor battery conditions, helping to identify potential issues earlier and support safer operation.
As Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation partner, SUSTAINABLE INNOVATIONS EUROPE played a central role in maximising the project’s visibility and impact. This included the development of communication materials, coordination of dissemination activities, stakeholder engagement, and support for the promotion and uptake of project results. SIE also facilitated knowledge sharing across the consortium, contributing to the long-term value of the project outcomes.
