Located in a less central area of Pest, Kozmo is an urban hotel that becomes a destination in itself by creating an introspective experience that narrates the city’s history.

It is the rehabilitation of the former largest telecommunications hub in Eastern and Central Europe from the early 20th century. The project establishes a compositional tension between the classical character of the building, part of Budapest’s historic and cultural heritage, and the contemporary language of the design and artwork, driven by an intellectual engagement with the local culture. Part of the building’s uniqueness lies in its original design, which blends eclecticism and Art Nouveau.

The design strategy begins with a careful study of the style of the period and the restoration of the building, in which original elements are respectfully recovered and completed with contemporary design pieces.

The arrival experience is enhanced by a large glass volume that divides the courtyard into an outdoor lounge and an exterior patio connected directly to the city.

A sculptural central staircase organizes the sequence of public spaces and accompanies guests as they transition to the private areas.

The generously sized rooms feature bathrooms that pay homage to Budapest’s renowned wellness culture, with abundant natural light reflected across the noble material surfaces.

Kozmo Hotel offers an experience of timeless elegance, balancing the legacy of the past as a cultural foundation with an eclectic contemporary aesthetic.
