Autoneum apprentice achieves top national result in Germany

Autoneum is proud to celebrate an exceptional success: Britta Lauts not only completed her apprenticeship at the Bocholt site with top marks but also achieved the best result in Germany in her final examination as a textile laboratory technician. This outstanding achievement was honored at a ceremony hosted by the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce on December 8, 2025, in Berlin. Federal Minister for Education and Family Affairs, Karin Prien, delivered the keynote address, praising both the individual accomplishments and the vital role of company-based apprenticeships in strengthening Germany’s economy.

Britta Lauts’s achievement is remarkable considering that around 250,000 apprentices across Germany took their final exams this year. At just 21, she exemplifies the successful combination of theory and practice at Autoneum. Originally from Wangerland in northern Germany, Britta Lauts deliberately chose a dual study program that combines university studies with hands-on training. “Practical experience is important, as it also helps a lot during your studies,” she explains. Her search for a company to support her studies led her to Autoneum in Bocholt – several hundred kilometers from home.

Her dual study program in chemical engineering (Bachelor of Engineering) will continue for two more years alongside her work in the Bocholt laboratory, where she performs technological, physical and chemical tests on materials – critical for the durability and quality of acoustic and thermal components in vehicles.

“We congratulate Britta Lauts, as well as her instructor Nicole Kreutz, on this outstanding achievement,” says Lena Rügamer, Team Leader Apprenticeship in Bocholt. “Awards like this reflect the dedication and expertise of our entire apprenticeship team, which has successfully nurtured talent for many years.”

The Bocholt site has a proud history of more than 140 years as a training company. Today, it trains more than 30 apprentices across 10 different professions, and graduates from Bocholt have repeatedly earned regional and national recognition for excellence.

Britta Lauts also shares a tip for future apprentices: “Do an internship before starting your apprenticeship and trust your instincts. At Autoneum, I felt at home right away – and as you can see, it was the right decision.”
