As Chief Visionary Officer at Wise Home, you lead innovation at the intersection of smart living, sustainability, and technology. How do you envision the evolution of connected homes in the coming years, and what role is Wise Home playing in that transformation?
As cities evolve, more data will become accessible — not just from within our own buildings, but from utility companies as well. That means data on water, electricity, and energy production. When we combine building-level data with utility-level insights, we can show tenants exactly how their usage affects the environment. We can narrow everything down to one apartment, one user. That’s powerful. The more we know, the more we can do to drive sustainability and lower energy costs.
Wise Home has become a key player in the smart home sector in the Nordics. What milestones or strategic decisions have been critical in scaling your solution in such a competitive market?
We still see ourselves as tech leaders. Our strategy has been to stay ahead by thinking disruptively. Many competitors have been around for years, and shifting their business models would mean cannibalizing their own offerings. We focus on being a software-first solution. A key move has been getting ambassadors and partners to sell our solution. By integrating into the entire building ecosystem, we make it easier for others to promote us, and for building owners to adopt us. Unlike siloed competitors, we’re focused on free data flow — that’s where value lies.
Valencia is one of Europe’s most dynamic tech ecosystems. What opportunities do you see to strengthen collaboration between the Nordic and Valencia ecosystems?
I think we can learn a lot from each other. The Nordics are highly digitalized — we’ve made mistakes along the way, and Valencia can skip those. At the same time, we can learn from the entrepreneurial spirit and innovation happening in Valencia. Collaboration is key to driving mutual growth.
How important are international tech events like VDS for companies like Wise Home in terms of visibility, partnerships, and international expansion?
Incredibly important. We’re currently active in Denmark, the UK, and we hope to expand into Germany and Spain. Going international lets us exchange knowledge and access data globally. If we only focused on Denmark, we’d be stuck in a silo. These events foster the openness and collaboration we need.
What advice would you give a Valencia startup looking to expand into the Nordic market?
Focus on collaboration. Don’t just see other companies as competitors. Look for overlap — where you can complement each other. For example, when I started Wise Home, we competed with another company over building access, but later realized we could share data to serve both our solutions. That turned into a partnership. Do the same: find local players, collaborate, offer value — and build a playbook to scale into other markets.
