Meetings were held this week in Panama to strengthen collaborations and joint activities with this long-standing Member State of the ICGEB.
Focusing on enhancing collaboration in biotechnology, biomedical research, capacity building, and scientific cooperation, Dr. Lawrence Banks, ICGEB Director-General, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Javier Martínez-Acha Vásquez.
Together with Dr. Eduardo Ortega, National Secretary of the National Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation (SENACYT), Dr. Carmenza Spadafora, Liaison Officer from Panama to ICGEB, Ms. Raffaella Agosti, PA to Dr. Banks (ICGEB), and Dr. Timothy Thomson, Director of INDICASAT AIP, the scope for developing specialised technology transfer training and advice on regulatory issues was also discussed.
The delegation also met with the Ambassador of Italy to Panama Ambassador of Italy to Panama, H.E. Giuditta Giorgio (pictured below, right), and visited the Ministry of Environment to meet with the Secretary General, Dr. María del Carmen Silvera (pictured below, left).
