To mark the broad rollout of Agent Mode in Copilot, we had some fun recreating an iconic 90s Excel ad: same ad, smarter Excel. Watch the original: https://lnkd.in/gB4cpgwU

Did you see Wilson's e-mail? Yeah, I'm on it. What is this? It's Copilot and Microsoft Excel. Now, hold still. I'm about to perform a miracle. Stuff that takes hours, We'll do it in minutes. My spreadsheet doesn't do that. OK, I admit it. It's pretty neat. There still isn't enough time. Don't panic, I'm just gonna have Copilot build another report. Nice. Spreadsheet doesn't do that. Ohh. Look at this new ask from Wilson. She wants a price comparison. Give it up. Look, look, let's just say that you PC got run over by a bus and that you're lucky to be alive. Oh, you of little faith. Pull price information from competitors list on sheet 2. With a few clicks, our superhero fixed errors, incorporated relevant data, and clean the whole thing up. My spreadsheet doesn't do that. I can't believe it. You did it. This is a miracle. This is Microsoft Excel.
Software products have long roadmaps and based on newer technologies adapt, but we start launched with few features and a minimal product!
We also need a tool that can generate VBA code directly within the coding environment in Excel. If this release supports that capability, it would be a significant achievement.
The rollout of 'Agent Mode' is a massive signal for the industry. 🚀 The shift from 'Ask & Answer' to 'Plan & Execute' is where the real business value lies. At Zyntel AI we’ve been building with this exact 'Agentic' philosophy—ensuring that AI doesn't just talk about a task, but has the grounded knowledge to actually drive it forward. The era of the proactive workspace is officially here. Great to see Microsoft leading the charge!
This really stands out Satya! Referencing an iconic ad creates instant familiarity, while the updated version highlights how far things have evolved. It’s a clever way to make something new feel both relevant and memorable at the same time.
The real shift here is not that AI can do tasks in Excel. It is that the work surface itself is becoming the interface for reasoning. What I am watching in teams adopting this is less about time saved and more about where decisions actually get made. When the tool can synthesize and suggest inside the workflow, the bottleneck moves from execution to judgment. That changes what skills actually matter for the people using it.
What stands out is how familiar products are becoming entry points into agent ecosystems.
Those office workers who were frustrated in front of their screens in the ads back then could never have imagined that thirty years later, Excel would not only be able to do accounting, but also reply to emails, write summaries, and even push their bosses. It's a replica of the ads, but a revolution in the 'manual spreadsheet creation' process.
Actually Microsoft is not a Business... It is a service to the Office Automation. Generations are still building on it... Not demolishing. Anyway... Looking for a Home page for office suit. A real, simple, with big icons, integration buttons, compatible for both PC and mobile views, a beautiful connectivity home page for all.. aaallll...Office programs which is still missing. Forget the START button. Let it be there.
