Under this year’s motto, “It all adds up in Hamburg,” Enric Molina, Tournament Director of the Bitpanda Hamburg Open, unveiled the official entry list for the ATP 500 tournament (May 16–23, 2026) on Wednesday morning at Port des Lumières, the spectacular immersive digital art venue located in Hamburg’s Überseequartier. It marked the first immersive press conference ever held at an ATP tournament, featuring visuals of the event like never before and an entry list presented across 10-meter walls surrounding the entire room.
The traditional German clay-court tournament at Rothenbaum, organized by Tennium, once again features a world-class field, reinforcing its status as one of the standout events on the international tennis calendar.
The lineup is headlined by four Top 10 players in the world rankings: local hero Alexander Zverev, Félix Auger-Aliassime, Ben Shelton, and former champion Lorenzo Musetti. In total, eleven Top 20 players are included, making this one of the most competitive editions in the tournament’s history and resulting in one of the toughest cut-offs ever.
Holger Rune returns to Rothenbaum in a highly anticipated comeback, while defending champion Flavio Cobolli is back to fight for the title and the new trophy, also unveiled during the event and inspired by the iconic center court roof.
Ben Shelton arrives in Hamburg in excellent form after winning the ATP 500 tournament in Munich (defeating Cobolli in the final), establishing himself as one of the most in-form players on tour.
Fans can also look forward to former Top 10 players such as Karen Khachanov, Tommy Paul, Frances Tiafoe, Jakub Menšík, Jack Draper, and Denis Shapovalov. The next generation will also be well represented, led by Brazilian rising star João Fonseca.
“With four Top 10 players and eleven players from the Top 20, we are presenting one of the strongest fields we have ever had in Hamburg. The depth of quality underlines the importance of the Bitpanda Hamburg Open on the international calendar. With Alexander Zverev as the local hero leading the field and players in outstanding form like Ben Shelton and Flavio Cobolli, it promises to be an exceptional week of world-class tennis at Rothenbaum. At the same time, it is important for us to create space not only for established stars but also for exciting stories — whether it’s Holger Rune’s comeback or the next generation of players. We are very much looking forward to offering our fans top-level tennis and a unique tournament atmosphere,” said Enric Molina Mur, Tournament Director and Tennium Partner.
From a German perspective, there is also good news: Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz will return to compete at Rothenbaum. The successful doubles duo won the title two years ago.
As a special highlight off the court, the tournament will host the first-ever “German Tennis Day” on Monday, May 18. On that day, Alexander Zverev is expected to make his debut in the tournament, alongside other German players, creating a unique black-red-gold atmosphere throughout the venue.
The Bitpanda Hamburg Open reflects Tennium’s commitment to continuously raising the standard of ATP 500 tournaments through innovation, constant improvement, and an increasingly comprehensive experience for both players and fans. Each edition aims to go one step further, combining world-class tennis with new formats, premium hospitality, and immersive on-site activations, further strengthening Hamburg’s position as a key stop on the international tennis calendar.
