Mint Cannabis partnered with the Moapa Band of Paiutes Tribal Government to open a new 3,500-square-foot dispensary at the Moapa Paiute Travel Plaza, located at 1 Lincoln St. (Interstate 15, Exit 75) on the Moapa River Indian Reservation, northeast of Las Vegas near Valley of Fire State Park.
The dispensary officially opens on June 20 in the former casino space. It will operate from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday. It will transition to 24-hour operations in the future. An official grand opening will take place Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4, in conjunction with the Moapa Band of Paiutes’ annual Rock the Sky music festival that weekend. The Mint will donate $1 from every pre-roll sold on July 3 and 4 to Moapa Native Veterans, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 4:20 pm on July 4.
The partnership marks a significant collaboration between Mint Cannabis and the federally recognized tribe, bringing expanded retail opportunities, economic growth and a new destination experience for residents and travelers visiting Southern Nevada. The Moapa Paiute Travel Plaza will undergo a major transformation, including a remodeled exterior, a brand-new restaurant called “The Taco Spot” that will serve breakfast burritos all day, and a fully upgraded convenience store with expanded offerings.
“This partnership is about more than opening a dispensary – it’s about creating a destination that supports economic growth, tourism and long-term opportunity for the community," said Raul Molina, COO and Co-Founder of Mint Cannabis. “We’re honored to partner with the Moapa Band of Paiutes on this exciting next chapter. The Mint team has developed significant expertise in launching and operating successful dispensaries, and we hope to serve as a trusted resource for tribal communities interested in pursuing similar opportunities. We hope this is the first of many tribal partnerships that create jobs, generate revenue and support long-term economic development.”
Located along the Moapa River, the Moapa Paiute Travel Plaza serves as a popular stop for travelers exploring the region, including nearby Valley of Fire State Park and destinations throughout Southern Nevada. Moapa, Nevada, is located approximately 30 to 40 miles southwest of the Utah state border.
To celebrate Independence Day and America’s 250th anniversary, the Moapa Band of Paiutes will host a Fourth of July Semiquincentennial “Rock the Sky” music festival, a free community celebration on July 3 and 4 that will bring together tribal members, residents and visitors from across the region for two evenings of live entertainment, fireworks, food trucks, carnival rides and activities. The event is expected to be one of Nevada’s largest fireworks celebrations. A unique feature of the celebration is a designated 40-acre fireworks launch area where attendees can legally light personal fireworks.
The two-day Semiquincentennial celebration will take place on tribal grounds and will include free admission and parking, live music, and a fireworks show at 10 p.m. on both July 3 and July 4. On Friday, July 3, Blanco Brown and Kylie Morgan will perform and on Saturday, July 4, Lonestar and Exile will perform. Guests will also enjoy food vendors, local businesses and family-friendly activities celebrating independence, culture and community under the desert sky.
As part of the Fourth of July festivities, Mint Cannabis will also debut an outdoor cool-down lounge for adults 21 and older on July 3 and 4, offering attendees a unique outdoor experience during the concerts and fireworks celebrations.
The annual Rock the Sky celebration is a proud Moapa tradition that honors community, independence, culture, and togetherness. This year’s expanded two-day festival also marks a new chapter for the Moapa Paiute Travel Plaza as the tribe welcomes new business development, increased tourism opportunities, and a broader destination experience for visitors traveling through Southern Nevada.
Additional event details and schedules will be announced in the coming weeks.
