Flexible bottle applications require materials capable of combining impact resistance with flexcrack resistance. These properties are key considerations in flexible bottle performance, while volume and weight reduction are also important factors in these applications. Different polymer structures provide distinct mechanical behaviour depending on the nylon grade selected.
Several nylon grades are available for this application, including UBE NYLON® 5034FDX17, 6434B, 1030B and 5034FDX40. LDPE and EVOH (32% mol) are also presented for comparison, illustrating the differences between the materials tested. The results highlight the different mechanical behaviour observed under the same test conditions.
Designed for demanding packaging applications, UBE NYLON® offers superior resistance to mechanical stress, helping maintain package integrity and reliable barrier performance throughout processing, handling, transportation and storage.
Volume and weight reduction are also highlighted for this application. These results illustrate how nylon composition influences impact and flexcrack behaviour.
