Mazzoleni is pleased to announce I Contain Multitudes, a new public art installation by Marinella Senatore, unveiled on 22 September 2026 at Millennium Park, Chicago. Commissioned by the Millennium Park Foundation, the work is installed at the Madison/Michigan entrance to the park and will remain on view through Fall 2027.
Part of the artist’s acclaimed series of light sculptures, I Contain Multitudes welcomes visitors through a constellation of illuminated phrases presented in multiple languages, addressing themes that are central to Senatore’s practice: empowerment, care, participation and collective life. Among the messages featured are “WE RISE BY LIFTING OTHERS”, “BODIES IN ALLIANCE”, “THE WORD COMMUNITY FEELS GOOD”, and the Walt Whitman quotation from which the work takes its title.
For more than two decades, Marinella Senatore has developed a multidisciplinary practice spanning performance, film, installation, music, public art and socially engaged projects. Her work consistently explores the transformative potential of collective participation and the ability of art to foster new forms of connection and belonging.
Installed in one of the United States’ most iconic cultural destinations, I Contain Multitudes joins the renowned public art programme of Millennium Park, home to some of the most celebrated artworks and architectural landmarks in contemporary public space, including Cloud Gate by Anish Kapoor, Crown Fountain by Jaume Plensa, and the iconic designs of Frank Gehry.
Through light, language and collective presence, the installation transforms one of the park’s principal gateways into a place of encounter and shared imagination, offering an open message of inclusion, solidarity and belonging to the millions of visitors who pass through Millennium Park each year.
