Get up Copilot Workspace is the first agentic sort of piece where you now can take a GitHub issue, create a spec which you can edit, you can create a plan, you can then edit the plan, and then you can see it execute across the full repo. We have an application here that lets us sell sporting equipment online. However, there's no way to add new products through an admin page. Let's see if we can build 1. Using copilot workspace. I have an issue here that describes my requirement. Usually I'd create a new branch and start thinking about how to implement it myself, but with copilot workspace I can get started right here from an issue. I'd like to ask it to show me a preview of the image I upload, and this time I'm going to ask it in Canada. I'll say image upload, Madam Mayor, preview Torsi and there it is. Awesome, right? We've made some great enhancements to the commands you can perform in Copilot workspace. Build, test and run are pretty common scenarios, and I have the commands configured here. I can execute the test command which will run the test for me right here within Copilot workspace. Hmm, looks like my test failed. My bad. I thought my code didn't need tests but hey, its scope I led to the rescue. I can ask Copilot Workspace to fix this for me. The build and repair agent within Copilot Workspace comes up with a solution on how to fix this error which I can apply. I can execute the run command right here within copilot workspace and I can open up a preview of it. And there's my admin page along with the image upload functionality that I needed. Completely written using copilot workspace.
Congratulations on this exciting launch! We look forward to seeing the innovative projects that will emerge from it.
This is great! Natural language coding helps both new and pro developers.
Woohoo! The era of agentic editors is here, redefining how we create. Eager to see how it transforms our coding journey! Satya Nadella
while its good a very trivial example. so far any such demo has failed to impress me. 1. These simiple examples are nowhere near Enterprise grade software 2. One will have to be a programmer even if a stylesheet needs to be changed thats not going anywhere not in 2025. 3. Even though their usage is definitely improving developer efficiency significantly but so far cant deploy anything without changes. Hoping to see better examples coming out couple of months down the line
I have been using it for a while now. Integration with #vscode for both #copilot and workspace has a few iterations to match similar tools I use, but O am sure of the team's ability to address the challenges. Keep it rolling
This offers a new conduit for disruptive technology! #Innovation
Exciting news! 🚀 GitHub Copilot Workspace is a game-changer for developers, making coding more intuitive and efficient. Can't wait to see how it transforms workflows and sparks innovation. Time to start building with agents! 💻✨ #AIForDevelopers #GitHubCopilot
Satya, Thank you for this update about GitHub Copilot Workspace! It's great to see such innovative tools becoming more accessible. However, as an Azure DevOps user, I sometimes feel that we are not receiving the same level of attention and innovation as GitHub users. GitHub's functionalities are indeed forward-thinking, and it feels like Azure DevOps is lagging behind. This disparity makes it challenging to justify purchasing GitHub when we are already invested in Azure DevOps. It would be beneficial to either accelerate the integration of these advanced features into Azure DevOps or provide a clear roadmap for how these tools will evolve. This would help ensure that all users, regardless of their platform, can benefit from the latest advancements and maintain a seamless workflow. Thank you for considering my feedback.
