In line with this year’s theme of the Hamburg Open, “Stage of Stars,” the organizers of the tournament today announced the official entry list for the 2025 edition of the ATP 500 event (May 17–24, 2025) at the renowned Sternensaal of the Planetarium. True to the slogan, this year’s tournament will feature some of the biggest names in international men’s tennis.
The entry list is headlined by none other than the World No. 1 and three-time Grand Slam Champion, Jannik Sinner, who will make his highly anticipated debut in Hamburg. He will be joined by former Rothenbaum champions Andrey Rublev and Lorenzo Musetti, Denmark’s top-10 and recent Barcelona winner Holger Rune, and Greece’s star Stefanos Tsitsipas. Also competing are crowd pleasers Gaël Monfils, Felix Auger-Aliassime, the highly regarded Americans Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe, as well as the rapidly rising Jakub Menšík from the Czech Republic, winner of Miami Masters 1000.
Also, particularly exciting for German tennis fans is the participation of Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff, who has been awarded the first Wild Card. Returning also to Rothenbaum are the reigning doubles world champions Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz, who will try to successfully defend their title at Hamburg Open from last year.
Enric Molina Mur, Tournament Director of the Hamburg Open: “Having the World No. 1 play in Hamburg for the first time since 2008 makes us very happy and is a strong statement for the sporting appeal of our tournament. Jannik Sinner leads an incredible field of players, all inside top-50, the strongest Hamburg has seen in more than 15 years and we are very happy to bring such world class level to our fans. This is exactly what we mean by ‘The Stage of Stars’: bringing big players and fan favorites to center court while creating space for new and exciting tennis stories at Rothenbaum.”
As mentioned, the DTB has awarded the first WC to Germanys Jan-Lennard Struff. More WCs will be announced in the coming weeks.
Kristoff Puelinckx, CEO of Tennium: “After our successful debut in 2024, we are continuing to invest and committed to elevate the tournament to new heights. The Hamburg Open is a key part of our global tournament portfolio – and the 2025 entry list exemplifies our vision world-class tennis at the center of the event, combined with the best experience for our fans and all of our stakeholders. ‘The Stage of Stars’ is not just a motto – it’s our promise.”
In addition to the high-profile main draw, the tournament will offer an exciting program for visitors and partners in 2025. Highlights include a larger and energetic fan zone with broader food and beverage options, themed days, the eagerly anticipated return of the “Rothenbaum Club”, the top notch exclusive hospitality area, and, for the first time, an official mascot: Otter “Otti”, who will bring fun, selfies, and a great atmosphere to the event. Live TV coverage of the Hamburg Open will reach more than 140 countries around the world and in Germany will be broadcasted by Sky and on the free-to-air channel DF1, giving the event additional visibility – as well as through local media partnerships with selected Hamburg media outlets.
Beyond the courts at Rothenbaum, the Hamburg Open is again strengthening its social impact with targeted initiatives for inclusion, youth development support, and environmental awareness.
