Venue: EXPO 2025 Osaka

From June 1st to 7th, 2025, the Marche Region will capture the world’s attention with the exhibition Ars: Tradition and Innovation, hosted within the Italy Pavilion.

Inspired by the Renaissance ideal city and designed by Architect Mario Cucinella, the Italy Pavilion tells and celebrates the value of the person and humanity’s ability to regenerate life through art. Art that identifies itself with know-how and knowing how to think with hands, determining factors for the success of Italian and Marche design.

The participation of the Marche Region will focus on the unique bond between artisanal tradition and innovation: iconic works and products will tell visitors about the Region’s capacity to value and reinterpret the past in a modern key.

What will be staged is a unique exhibition project – curated by Progetto Zenone and elleemme studio – articulated in four narrative sections in dialogue with each other, expressing the interweaving of tradition and innovation, crafts and arts, spaces, individuals and relationships.

Among the protagonists of the exhibition stand out excellences of international design: the famous Vanity Fair armchair by Poltrona Frau, symbol of timeless elegance; the Gommino moccasins by Tod’s, icon of style and craftsmanship, the curved glass Ghost chair by FIAM Italia designed by Cini Bieri and Tomu Katayanagi. And there will be no shortage of examples of contamination between Italian and Japanese culture, such as the Kimono slippers by Gallucci and the tapestries by I-Mesh.
The journey will culminate with a unique piece, capable of capturing the attention of those present: the SFS1 space suit, worn by Colonel Walter Villadei in the Virtute 1 mission, symbol of the interweaving between haute couture and technological innovation.

Through Ars: Tradition and Innovation, the Marche Region becomes a theater of art, innovation and dialogue, offering the public an invitation to discover the most authentic value of know-how, looking to the future without forgetting its roots.
