How Eurotech helps OEMs and system integrators stay ahead of cybersecurity regulations

cybersecurity becomes mandatory

From August 1st, 2025, the RED Delegated Act (2022/30/EU) becomes enforceable across the EU. It mandates that all radio-enabled equipment on the European market implement essential cybersecurity features. The regulation builds on the existing Radio Equipment Directive (RED 2014/53/EU), which covers safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and spectrum use. The new article 3(3)(d) adds a critical requirement: improving the resilience of connected devices.

This shift reflects the increasing role of radio-equipped and connected devices in mission-critical systems and daily operations, and the corresponding need to safeguard against cyber threats by design.

what changes with RED-DA?

The Delegated Act mandates manufacturers to ensure that radio equipment:

  • Resists network disruptions and cyberattacks
  • Prevents unauthorized access to data and systems
  • Is delivered with security features enabled by default

This applies to all devices capable of wireless connection to the internet, including industrial gateways, edge AI platforms, and IoT nodes.

short runway, long-term impact

Whilst the RED-DA was adopted in 2022, the harmonized standards (EN 18031 series) were only published at the end of January 2025. This leaves manufacturers a tight window to assess the compliance of their products and close any gaps identified.

eurotech’s readiness: built-in compliance

At Eurotech, we believe that secure and compliant systems start at the edge. Cybersecurity is in our DNA, proven by our IEC 62443-4-2 compliant solutions already on the market.

We’ve proactively aligned our processes, products and documentation to meet RED-DA requirements out-of-the-box. Our engineering and security teams have enhanced our Everyware Linux and Everyware Software Framework to:

  • Deliver secure, RED-DA compliant configurations, building on our hardware capabilities and enterprise-grade Linux operating system
  • Provide updated documentation tailored for RED-DA conformity assessments
  • Enable over-the-air updates
  • Proactively monitor and patch vulnerabilities

Key cybersecurity features are enabled by default in our standard products – and can be inherited in your custom factory image.

supporting our customers, every step of the way

Compliance is a shared responsibility. Customers who deploy their software or integrate third-party applications must maintain security requirements.

That’s why Eurotech offers:

  • RED-DA-ready platforms with documented security baselines
  • Support for onboarding and validation of customer-specific software
  • Guidance in aligning documentation for the declaration of conformity

you must act now

going beyond RED-DA

At Eurotech, Operational Technology cybersecurity is in our DNA: we have invested in independent certification against industry-leading process and product security standards such as ISO 27001, IEC 62443-4-1 and IEC 62443-4-2.

The industry didn’t have long to respond to RED-DA regulation,  and with NIS2 we predict extension of IEC 18031 standards to non-radio equipment.

Will you be ready?
