The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) will respond to the expected release tomorrow of the Fatality Inquiry regarding the death of Deborah Onwu. Onwu was a Calgary resident and a Family and Youth Councillor employed by Woods Homes who was stabbed nineteen times by a client on October 3, 2019.
Onwu was a member of CUPE, and the union requested the inquiry following her death.
Present tomorrow at the news conference will be:
- Raj Uppal, CUPE Alberta President
- Troy Winters, Senior Officer (Health and Safety) CUPE. Winters was a witness at the Inquiry
- Wael Elrafih, President, CUPE Local 4731
- Peggy Wright, MLA – NDP shadow minister for Labour
