Simon Cantemir Hauși – TwoGreyhounds

Simon Cantemir Hauși (b. 1976, Baia Mare, Maramureș, Romania) is a contemporary painter based in Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania. Deeply influenced by the landscapes and natural world of his childhood, Hauși creates works in which animals and rural scenery take on a mystical, almost dreamlike quality. While his imagery is tender and visionary, it resists sentimentality, often infused with a subtle sense of unease. This underlying tension—an impression that his subjects are being observed or monitored—may trace back to his formative years under communist rule.
