PARIS (Dec. 5, 2025) – Publisher The Arcade Crew (Abyssus, Blazing Chrome, Infernax) and developer Sleepy Mill Studio today released a trove of new content for Drop Duchy, the innovative, 100,000+ copy-selling hybrid of strategy and roguelite gameplay where empires are built from cascading blocks. The North DLC is available now for €3.99, as well as a sizable new content update available to all existing players at no charge. The new DLC is also part of the new Complete Edition bundle, which includes the base game, the official soundtrack and previous DLC for €22,92.
Today’s update was accompanied by a new trailer showcasing the unparalleled might of the Vikings faction with a sneak peek of the new content coming to Drop Duchy:
The North DLC adds an aggressively powerful “The North” faction inspired by the legendary might of the Vikings. Unlike Drop Duchy’s other factions, The North’s warriors can be tactically led into individual battles instead of being grouped up into one all-encompassing army. Combined with The North’s unique Fury ability, which provides additional units for every hit point lost in the round prior, as well as the option to loot resource buildings for valuables and eight all-new cards, The North commands an unprecedented strategic advantage unique from Drop Duchy’s other factions.
Drop Duchy also stacks a free update on top of The North’s offerings which adds:
- The Ascension Game Mode: Unlocked once you’ve beaten Normal mode, the Ascension mode gradually ramps up complexity and challenge through player-chosen modifiers.
- For each Ascension Tier, you have to select a certain number of modifiers among a long list (increased number of enemies, lower starting health or more expensive card upgrades, for example) – allowing you to build the run to your strengths
- With each run completed, you’ll unlock new cosmetic options before you brave the next Ascension tier
- Three New Bosses: A fresh foe awaits in each of the game’s three acts, ready to test your might in new, challenging ways

- The Gate separates the battlefield into two halves
- The Fortification adds War Chariots to the deck to sabotage your siege
- The Basilica has the powerful ability to steal your units for its own benefit
- A Fortune Teller: A curious new encounter can be met on your path to conquering new lands in the Fortune Teller, which will allow you to customize your run by eliminating different cards from the loot pool to up your chances at getting the cards you need
- New Cards, Challenges & More: This free update adds 12 cards for all factions, challenges, two constellations and quality of life improvements such as a button to preview cards before choosing map locations, meaning now is the best time to jump in and experience the block-dropping adventure
- Undo Button: The most-requested piece of community feedback was an undo button for the last-placed piece, which has been added as part of this update for free. You can move one step back at any point in the game as many times as you’d like
Today’s additions follow a previous round of free and paid The Tribe DLC released for Drop Duchy in August, which deepened the game’s complexity and strategic possibilities in debuting The Tribe, a new faction built around the deep wisdom of the druids.
