Oxera has appointed Tanja Salem to its senior leadership team as it continues to expand its support for clients operating in highly regulated and fast-evolving markets. A recognised expert in competition and regulatory economics, Tanja brings more than 20 years’ experience in digital markets, telecommunications and other networked industries. She works with large corporates on regulatory strategy, mergers and acquisitions, investigations and litigation—helping them manage risk, engage effectively with regulators and make confident, evidence-based decisions.
Prior to joining the company, Tanja has worked for Ofcom, the Financial Conduct Authority, headed BT Group’s Economics team in the UK, and led Colt Technology Services’ pan-European regulatory function. In these roles, she advised on regulatory and competition strategy and oversaw complex economic and financial analysis across multiple jurisdictions. Her recent experience includes leading BT’s submissions and engagement with the UK Competition and Markets Authority on the Vodafone/Three merger, acting as an economic expert in a competition litigation case before the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal, and advising the consumer group Which? on competition in digital markets.
Commenting on her appointment, Tanja said ‘I am very much looking forward to working with Oxera’s team and its clients across sectors that are facing significant regulatory change, competitive pressure, and opportunity. I’m passionate about helping clients develop clear, effective strategies that stand up to regulatory scrutiny and support long-term growth’.
Srini Parthasarathy, Oxera Partner, said: ‘I’m delighted to welcome Tanja Salem to Oxera. Tanja brings outstanding cross-sector expertise and strategic insight that will significantly strengthen our support for clients facing complex regulatory challenges across Europe. She will play a central role in the continued growth of our sectoral regulation practice in the DACH region.’
