Waste to Energy Advanced Solutions (WtEnergy) has closed a €10 million funding round led by SC Net Zero Ventures (Suma Capital), with participation from Shell Ventures and existing shareholder Cemex Ventures, to accelerate the deployment of its gasification technology for industrial waste and biomass. The company will allocate the funds to execute its project pipeline, standardize the design and operation of its plants, strengthen its organization, and advance new applications for Syngas, while also supporting its expansion across Europe.

The company positions its solution as a response to two converging needs in industry: reducing emissions in energy-intensive processes and improving waste management. Its technology converts residual streams and biomass into syngas, a renewable gas that can be used as a substitute for fossil fuels in industrial processes and, according to the company, can later be processed to produce hydrogen, methanol, or sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

The model is based on small- and medium-scale modular plants —5–50 MW— designed to be integrated directly into industrial sites. According to the company, this approach makes it possible to valorize waste that would otherwise end up in landfills or incineration, contributing to circular economy objectives and reducing CO₂ emissions associated with energy consumption. WtEnergy focuses its activity on energy-intensive sectors such as cement, paper, rendering, chemicals, and ceramics, where it reports having projects already in operation and others in advanced stages of development.
