From ocean pollution and oil spill mapping to carbon dioxide removal, nature-based solutions, climate risk governance, and the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in climate science, CMCC researchers are contributing to discussions that sit at the intersection of science, policy, and societal resilience. The EGU General Assembly is now underway, bringing together over 20,000 scientists from across the globe for the continent’s largest geoscience conference.
This week, Vienna becomes the world capital of geosciences – and CMCC is there to help shape some of the most urgent scientific conversations of our time.
CMCC is among the leading institutions playing an active role at this year’s EGU General Assembly – organised by the European Geosciences Union, Europe’s organisation for Earth, planetary, and space science research. Across several convened and co-convened sessions running through 8 May, CMCC scientists are engaging with the global geoscience community on topics ranging from marine ecosystems and landslide risk to climate mitigation, water resilience, and disaster preparedness.
