Building a frontier intelligence ecosystem together. Highlights from my keynote at Microsoft Build this morning.

And if there's one key take away, it would be this. How do you all participate fully in this frontier intelligence ecosystem in order to really push the limits, realize this unmetered intelligence? What if we could just Max the compute, Max the memory, build out that developer machine? That's the dream machine. And that's what we're announcing today. Surface RT X far dev. And so this idea that that the PCB evolved from a, from a personal computer to a personal AI, it's just really exciting. We are building a new intelligence layer, bringing together the models, contacts as well as the tools. This model is coupled with live telemetry, so it reflects the real operational state of the grid minute by minute. And today we are really thrilled to announce. An open claw runs on Windows leveraging MXC. Watching a claw try to delete all your desktop file and just fail made me really happy. We are introducing Autopilots. These are autonomous long running agents with full enterprise compliance that run in your tenant. We are very excited to announce a family of seven new models across image voice transcription. Encoding, I want to talk about that frontiers beyond and really say what's the next big thing. And so this is Maharana 2. Mirana 2 provides cubic mean lifetime of 20 seconds or up to even a minute, essentially 1000 times higher than what we were able to achieve with Miranda one. It's about tackling those pressing challenges of people and planet. That's our North Star for the frontier ecosystem. Let's all go build together. Thank you all very, very much.

Satya Nadella The real mic-drop from Build is the introduction of "Autopilots." We are rapidly moving past passive chatbots and into the era of long-running, autonomous agents that manage complex enterprise logic in the background. The shift from human-assisted AI to fully decoupled AI execution is where the true operational efficiency gains will be found over the next few years.
In all key technology evolutions - Cloud, mobile, SaaS, etc. we lived in ecosystems - Marketplaces, partnerspaces, affiliates, etc. Glad to see AI evolving into this. It’s an indication of core platform maturity and a recognition by the platform players that the broader scenario coverage is possible only through an ecosystem of AI first hardware and software ISVs on such platforms. Hopefully this should promote a handful of AI Hyper-scalars and tons of innovation at an app level.
Microsoft’s partial pullback isn’t enough: Nothing short of full divestment from Israel’s military is acceptable. Microsoft is still powering Israel’s war machine: The company is still fueling the tools of warfare that enable Israel's slaughter of Palestinians Microsoft could be the first: No major tech company has fully divested from Israel's military. Microsoft can lead by being the first. The AI arms race has to stop: Microsoft can be the company that breaks from the pack — and sets a new standard for the industry. Corporate complicity in genocide is a crime: The UN and legal experts call for prosecution of executives enabling genocide — Microsoft’s leadership is on notice.
The ecosystem is the key word here. AI adoption succeeds when teams learn, share and improve together. Technology is important, but changing how people collaborate around it is where the real transformation happens.
The Autopilots announcement is the one most people are sleeping on. Everyone's focused on the Surface RT X and the model family drops but autonomous, long-running agents with enterprise compliance running natively in your tenant? That's the architecture shift. We're not talking about AI that assists decisions anymore. We're talking about AI that executes workflows end-to-end while you sleep. The real question executives need to be asking isn't 'how do we adopt AI' - it's 'how do we govern systems that act without prompting?' That gap between adoption and governance is where most organizations will lose the next 18 months.
Satya Nadella, the framing of ecosystem over platform is the strategic pivot that matters here. Platforms create dependencies; ecosystems create interdependencies. When the design principle shifts from capturing value to enabling others to create it, you get a fundamentally different kind of network effect. What's notable about the frontier intelligence framing is that it signals a move away from feature competition toward participation architecture. Organizations thinking about AI strategy at the moment would do well to ask not what frontier models can do for them, but how they can contribute to the frontier alongside partners like Microsoft.
A strong vision for how intelligence ecosystems truly take shape. Building together is what gives innovation lasting scale.
