Lakefield Veterinary Group is proud to announce the launch of the Care Beyond Limits Fund, a new initiative designed to help pets receive essential veterinary care when financial hardship would otherwise make treatment impossible.

The Care Beyond Limits Fund provides financial assistance for qualifying cases at Lakefield's network of veterinary hospitals across the United States. The program supports pets with treatable conditions whose families are facing financial barriers to care, helping ensure that medical decisions are driven by what's best for the patient rather than financial circumstances alone.

"Veterinary teams are regularly presented with pets in need of life saving treatment but their families are not able to afford the care." said Mollie Hoff, CEO of Lakefield Veterinary Group. "The Care Beyond Limits Fund allows our hospitals to step in during those very difficult times and provide financial assistance that can truly change the outcome for a pet and their family."

Since launching, the fund has already helped support several pets in need.

One of the first approved cases involved Scrap, a cat treated at Companions Animal Hospital in St. Cloud, MN, after being attacked by a coyote. Scrap suffered a severe leg injury that became badly infected and required an urgent amputation. With a strong prognosis following surgery, funding assistance helped ensure Scrap could receive the procedure needed to relieve pain and return to a healthy life.

"When we called the owner to let her know the funding had been approved, she was so appreciative of all the efforts to help," said Sherry Thien, Hospital Administrator at Companions Animal Hospital. "She had been facing an impossible decision and desperately wanted to help her cat. Knowing we could move forward with treatment through the fund was an incredible relief for everyone involved."

The fund reflects Lakefield's commitment to supporting both pets and the veterinary teams who advocate for them every day.

"Our hospitals are deeply connected to the communities they serve," Hoff said. "Care Beyond Limits gives our teams another way to support families during challenging times while preserving the human-animal bond that means so much to all of us."

Cases are submitted by Lakefield hospitals and reviewed through an internal committee of licensed veterinarians. Funding is prioritized for pets with a favorable prognosis and a strong likelihood of returning to a good quality of life following treatment.

The Care Beyond Limits Fund is the latest extension of Lakefield Veterinary Group's commitment to giving back. Alongside long-standing partnerships with organizations like World Vets, including supporting a free veterinary hospital in the Galápagos Islands and annual international volunteer opportunities for team members, the fund reflects Lakefield's belief that exceptional veterinary care can strengthen communities both close to home and around the world.
