On 24 August 2026, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) submitted a report to the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Committee (CCPR) on selected civil and political rights in Thailand.
The report for the List of Issues (LoI), jointly prepared with the Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR), is part of the CCPR’s review of the country’s third periodic report under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).
The FIDH-TLHR report raises concerns with regard to: 1) the death penalty; 2) torture; 3) enforced disappearances; 4) arbitrary detentions; 5) detention conditions; 6) the right to a fair trial; 7) freedom of expression; 8) freedom of peaceful assembly; 9) freedom of association; and 10) the right to take part in the conduct of public affairs.
The LoI is a document that contains key concerns and questions that the CCPR will transmit to the Thai government prior to the actual review session, the date of which has not yet been set. The CCPR will adopt the LoI for Thailand during its 146th session (19 October – 6 November 2026).
