The CEU Abat Oliba University (CEU UAO) has today welcomed the first cohort of its new Degree in Medicine, comprising 50 students. The launch of this degree programme marks a new step in the growth of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.

Coinciding with the start of classes, CEU UAO Rector Marcin Kazmierczak welcomed the students of this inaugural class at the Esplugues Campus, alongside the Dean of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, Josep Maria Guardiola Tey, and the Vice-Rector for Students and University Life, Laura Amado.

The six-year Degree in Medicine provides training that combines a solid scientific foundation with a humanistic perspective on the profession. The programme will prepare future doctors to respond responsibly to the health challenges of the 21st century and to practice medicine with a person-centred approach to care.

“Our goal is to train outstanding professionals, both scientifically and personally, with a rigorous education and an approach to medicine based on holistic patient care”, Josep Maria Guardiola Tey stressed.

One of the key pillars of the CEU UAO Degree in Medicine is personalised attention and comprehensive support for students. Another distinguishing feature is the inclusion, from the first year onwards, of training in artificial intelligence applied to medicine.

The first intake of students begins their studies at the new Esplugues Campus, which will become the home of the CEU Abat Oliba University Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. Designed as an environment focused on learning and innovation, the new facility will support the growth of the university’s academic programmes in the healthcare field.

The launch of the Medicine programme continues the growth of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, which also welcomed its first cohort of students onto the Degree in Nursing programme last academic year. With the addition of this new degree programme, the CEU UAO advances the development of an academic project aimed at training healthcare professionals with rigorous scientific preparation, a humanistic perspective and a close connection to the realities of clinical practice.
