Startup Valencia has successfully raised €200,000 to date for those affected by the DANA floods. Through various initiatives coordinated by Juan Luis Hortelano, President of Startup Valencia, the association has been collecting funds via the NGO Admundi to provide direct aid to those impacted by the floods last October.
The most recent of these initiatives took place yesterday at Base 2 in La Marina de Valencia, where the association brought together members of its community for a solidarity event. Attendees, in addition to contributing to this significant cause, had the opportunity to connect, share updates, and strengthen their professional networks.
In recent weeks, Startup Valencia has also launched the initiatives “Help | Startup Valencia” and “Adopta un colegio”. The first initiative has helped connect organizations from the innovation and tech ecosystem that were either offering or seeking assistance, as well as raising and managing funds for the flood victims.
Meanwhile, the “Adopta un colegio” initiative, in collaboration with the educational community “Para Profes” and ATH21, has focused on restoring education in areas affected by the DANA floods. The project aims to facilitate connections between individuals, companies, and educational suppliers to help teachers, families, and students in the affected regions recover their education and return to normal classroom routines.
Additionally, with the support of several contributors, a meal is being organized for 100 people on December 24th at the Hotel Meliá Valencia, where around 40 families affected by the floods will gather to celebrate Christmas and distribute gifts to the children.
