With an eight-month-old baby in tow, Visteon’s Veronica Binaghi, sought out and earned a degree in Finance. Fast forward to today – Veronica is a seasoned leader at Visteon, celebrating two decades with the company. She has taken on leadership roles outside of Finance, moved across the world (a few times) and raised two daughters along the way.
Veronica’s story is one of courage and resilience. She is the first leader to be featured in Visteon’s 2024 “Life as a Leader” series, sharing her insights and experiences to inspire others.
Veronica acknowledges the obstacles that can hold us back – economic limitations, life circumstances, and fear. She emphasizes that even seasoned professionals grapple with these doubts. What sets Veronica apart is her decision to choose growth over fear. She reiterated what we have heard time and time again – some of her favorite professional experiences formed during moments when she felt the most uncertainty.
Take, for instance, her decision to relocate internationally with her family. This wasn’t an easy choice, but Veronica transformed it into an opportunity for professional and personal development. Her advice for navigating tough choices? Follow your intuition. While fear is ever-present, Veronica prioritizes the fear of regret over the fear of failure.
Born and raised in Argentina, Veronica started at Visteon in an entry level role and has since advanced to her current role as Senior Director overseeing the entire European finance function and team. She emphasizes the importance of taking ownership and accountability for your responsibilities. Throughout her career, she has embraced initiatives and tasks that directly impacted her role. This strategy, she believes, is one of the most effective ways to push you forward.
Veronica understands the challenges of building accountability within a team. Her approach is simple yet effective:
- Clearly communicate your goals and expectations to your team.
- Empower your team members by assigning tasks that align with their strengths.
- Acknowledge accomplishments and celebrate successes – big and small.
- Failures are inevitable, but they are also opportunities for growth. Use them to strengthen your team.
Veronica’s has a distinctive leadership style. An avid reader, she credits Viktor E. Frankl’s “Man’s Search for Meaning” as a constant source of inspiration. Veronica also emphasizes the importance of observing other leaders and trusting her own instincts.
This philosophy extends to her approach to work-life balance. Veronica prioritizes open communication within her family and encourages her children to learn from their experiences and fail (within reason) because that’s how the best lessons are learned!
Veronica is a well-respected, people-focused leader who values perspective and courage. If this resonates with you, explore opportunities with us by visiting Visteon’s career page.
