On Monday, March 3, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), Kevin Sanguesa from Italtel Spain, together with the Instituto Municipal de Informática de Barcelona (IMI – Ajuntament de Barcelona) and Cisco, presented the IRIS project at the Agora Beat Barcelona. This innovative initiative addresses the cybersecurity challenges in Smart Cities.

The goal of IRIS in Barcelona is to create an advanced threat and vulnerability detection system that uses IoT, AI, and image recognition technologies to ensure the security of tram transport, preventing accidents and collisions with bicycles and personal mobility vehicles. It also verifies that every element of the transport network has not been altered by a cyberattack and, in case of detection, corrects the anomaly, ensuring the proper functioning of services provided to citizens.

In this context, Italtel has collaborated with the City of Barcelona through IMI and its innovation department, contributing to the implementation of advanced cybersecurity solutions and urban infrastructure protection.

Italtel has provided engineering, integration, consulting, support, and maintenance services in the field of cybersecurity, perimeter security, and smart networks, integrating Cisco solutions, from Cisco Cyber Vision to Cisco Next Generation Firewall Firepower, as well as IoT equipment to ensure the ability to process data locally (Edge).
