Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine, located at the iconic Place du Trocaderó, will host The Berlin Wall. A World Divided in Paris from May 14 to September 28, 2025The only French stop on its international tour.

Developed by Musealia in collaboration with the Berlin Wall Foundation (Stiftung Berliner Mauer) this groundbreaking exhibition first premiered in Madrid in November 2023. It is the first large-scale exhibition dedicated to the history of the Berlin Wall, featuring an extensive collection of over 200 original objects, including 10 meters of the Wall itself, sourced from more than 40 collectors, museums and institutions worldwide.

Many of these artifacts—some displayed publicly for the first time—offer an unparalleled window into one of history’s most defining symbols of division. Visitors in Paris will not only gain insight into how and why this brutal border regime was built but also explore the personal experiences of Berliners on both sides of the Wall.

Its history, set against the backdrop of the ideological struggle of the Cold War, serves as a unique platform for exploring essential aspects of our own society. Luis Ferreiro, director of Musealia, reflects on the exhibition:

“The history of the Berlin Wall is a message from the last century to the citizens of the 21st century. A warning about the fragility and exceptionality of liberal democracies, and about the dangers of authoritarian ideologies. But it is also a message of hope and responsibility: every generation has a responsibility to preserve, protect, and fight for democracy and freedom.”

Bringing The Berlin Wall. A World Divided to Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine, such a prestigious institution renowned for its commitment to cultural presentation and education, marks a significant milestone for the exhibition: The perfect placement to foster understanding, spark reflection, and encourage dialogue on this defining chapter of modern history.
