The frustration among clerical workers at Mount Sinai hospital is palpable. They are paid lower wages compared to other hospital workers in the GTA, endure highly stressful working conditions, and are deeply unsatisfied about the way they are treated by their employer.

On Tuesday morning, led by Fadumo Mohamed, the CUPE 5492 president, the workers intend to send a strong message to the hospital: management needs to address their concerns. For a start, they want the hospital to negotiate a new contract (the old one expired in February 2023) that helps them achieve parity with other hospital workers in the region, and addresses workload issues.
