The Bitpanda Hamburg Open has a new shining champion. Flavio Cobolli triumphed in the sold-out Centre Court’s high-class final, defeating Andrey Rublev 6-2, 6-4 to claim his first ATP 500 title.

“I played the best match of my life,” said the delighted 23-year-old, who became a fan favorite during the tournament at Rothenbaum thanks to his passionate playing style.

The match was an intense exchange of blows between two players who have a good relationship off the court. “He’s not only a great player, but also a great person,” Cobolli said after the match about Rublev, who was playing in his third Rothenbaum final. Rublev had previously won the Hamburg Open in 2020.

The Italian duo Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori won the doubles final, defeating Andrés Molteni (Argentina) and Fernando Romboli (Brazil) 6-4, 6-0.
