Tenerife, Spain | June 27, 2025Almar Water Solutions participated as a Gold Sponsor in the 14th International Congress of the Spanish Association for Desalination and Reuse (AEDyR), held on June 24–26, 2025, at the Adán Martín Auditorium in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain. Under the theme “60 Years of Innovation in Desalination and Reuse,” the event celebrated six decades of technological development in Spain, with a special focus on the Canary Islands, where the country’s first desalination plant was installed in 1965.

The company was represented by Arantxa Mencía, VP of Global Business Development; Rodrigo Segovia, COO of Industrial Water and Technology; and Manuel García, Business Development Director for the Middle East and Central Asia. They actively participated in technical sessions and high-level meetings throughout the congress.

Recognized as Europe’s most influential gathering on desalination and reuse, the Congress brought together international experts, public institutions, research centers, and companies from across the water value chain. The event featured discussions on technological advancements, successful case studies, and public-private partnership models aimed at addressing current water management challenges.

During the congress, Almar Water Solutions highlighted its global expertise in the design, development, and operation of advanced solutions, including large-scale projects such as the Shuqaiq 3 desalination plant in Saudi Arabia, with a capacity of 450,000 m³/day, and the Muharraq wastewater treatment and reuse plant in Bahrain.

The company also emphasized the opportunities these technologies offer in Spain, a country particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change and prone to recurring droughts. Desalination and water reuse are positioned as essential tools to ensure long-term water supply for urban consumption, as well as for industrial and agricultural uses, especially in regions such as the Mediterranean arc and the island territories.

A member of AEDyR since early 2025, Almar Water Solutions reinforced its strategic commitment to innovation and sustainability in the water sector through its presence in Tenerife, actively contributing to the development of resilient solutions that guarantee access to water resources in water-scarce environments.
