At ISP, we are dedicated to creating future pathways to success by providing our students with access to world-class educational opportunities. That’s why we are excited to announce our new partnership with Medical University of the Americas (MUA)!
Established in 1998 on the safe and serene island of Nevis in the Caribbean, MUA fosters an enriching educational environment where over 1,800 students have achieved their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees. MUA is committed to providing aspiring physicians with the education and personalised support they need to succeed in their journeys towards becoming practising medical doctors and international healthcare leaders. The MUA MD programme is accredited by the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM), which is recognised by the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME). Graduates are eligible to practice in the U.S., Canada and other countries around the world.
Opportunities for ISP Students
This partnership offers students the chance to enter the medical field through one of two direct and efficient pathways to becoming practising doctors.
To further support these journeys, MUA’s International Grants and Opportunity Grants offer ISP students scholarship opportunities of up to $27,500 over the course of their MD degree programme.
In addition, there is also a Partnership Pathway Scholarship available, where ISP students are eligible for a unique partnership scholarship of $5,000 USD, which is applied toward tuition costs.
MUA’s comprehensive programmes include:
- Accelerated Pathways: MUA provides two pre-medical pathway programmes that offer students the opportunity to bypass the traditional four years of undergraduate studies that usually precede medical school, saving them significant time and money on their journey to achieving their MD degrees. Learn more about the 5-year BSc/MD programme and 6-year BSc/MD programme.
- Tailored Entry Points: For those with varying levels of pre-medical academic preparation, MUA offers four pre-med pathway programmes, including a Pre-Medical Master’s, 5-year BSc/MD, 6-year BSc/MD and the Gateway programme, which help prepare students to succeed in the MD programme. Learn more here.
- Global Career Preparation: MUA graduates are equipped to practise medicine in the United States, Canada and internationally, opening doors to exciting and impactful global careers. As part of this commitment, MD programme students undertake Clinical Medicine rotations in the U.S. (core and electives) and Canada (select electives).
A Partnership for the Future
ISP Head of Learning Partnerships, Jo Fretwell, shared her thoughts on the partnership:
“Our partnership with Medical University of the Americas (MUA) opens doors for our students looking to continue their education in the medical field. Students can step straight from high school into a pre-medical science programme, allowing them to complete their BSc/MD programme in five years (or six years, depending upon the programme chosen), saving time and money on their education. In addition, ISP students are also eligible for generous scholarships as part of our commitment to removing barriers to students accessing higher education.”
This partnership reflects ISP’s mission to nurture academic success, equip students with life-changing skills, and prepare them to make meaningful contributions to the world. Through this collaboration, we aim to inspire students to pursue their passions and achieve their potential in the dynamic and rewarding field of medicine.
