Startup Valencia and Unicorn Factory Lisboa have signed a collaboration agreement to strengthen ties between the entrepreneurial ecosystems of Valencia and Lisbon, aiming to position both cities as strategic tech hubs in Southern Europe. This alliance seeks to facilitate internationalization, talent exchange, and the creation of joint opportunities for startups and scaleups from Spain and Portugal.

Through this partnership, both organizations will promote each other’s support programs, connect startups with key ecosystem players, and provide shared workspaces at their respective locations to foster mobility and cooperation among startups.

The agreement also includes joint participation in major international tech events such as VDS, which will celebrate its eighth edition on October 22–23 at Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences, where Unicorn Factory Lisboa will have a prominent presence. A collaboration framework will also be established for Web Summit in Lisbon, from November 10–13, offering logistical support and visibility to the Startup Valencia delegation.

Planned initiatives include immersion trips to discover the local startup scene, strategic meetings with corporations and institutions, and co-hosted sector-specific activities in verticals such as sustainability, artificial intelligence, gaming, and Web3.

“With this agreement, we take another step toward establishing the Valencian Community as a leading international tech hub, powered by our startups. We’re doing so alongside a key partner, Unicorn Factory Lisboa, with whom we share a common vision and a deep commitment to innovative entrepreneurship,” said Nacho Mas, CEO of Startup Valencia.

“This partnership represents an excellent opportunity to connect the Portuguese and Spanish ecosystems, share knowledge, and generate synergies to accelerate the growth of startups and scaleups in both countries. The cooperation with Startup Valencia boosts the competitiveness of this sector in the Iberian Peninsula and reinforces our mission to support startups and scaleups, as well as to position Lisbon and Portugal as an international benchmark hub for innovation,” stated Gil Azevedo, Executive Director of Unicorn Factory Lisboa.

As the first joint initiative of this collaboration, the “Demo Day Summer Edition” will take place on July 17. This virtual event, co-hosted by Unicorn Factory Lisboa and Startup Valencia, will showcase 10 standout startups pitching their projects to a jury of top-tier VCs and innovation leaders.
