Institute-Industry Dialogue for Climate Resilience and Clean Energy Takes Center Stage

New Delhi, September 4, 2025 — The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi celebrated the first anniversary of India’s BioE3 Policy by hosting BioE3@1, focused on institute-industry interaction for climate-resilient agriculture and clean energy.

The event was held in collaboration with five leading biotech research institutes:

  • National Agri‑Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), Mohali
  • National Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR), New Delhi
  • National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB), Hyderabad
  • Institute of Pesticide Formulation Technology (IPFT), Gurgaon
  • Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad

Leading agri and biotech companies — including Balram Chinni Mills, Prasad Seeds, Nuziveedu Seeds, Bioseeds, Mankind Agro, and Insecticides India Ltd. — also joined the discussions.

Research & Innovation on Display

The event opened with presentations by the institute directors, showcasing innovations in agri-biotech, clean energy, and sustainable inputs. Each speaker emphasized their institute’s role in advancing climate-resilient technologies and the need for strong industry linkages.

An exhibition of technology stalls by the participating institutes allowed attendees to explore real-world applications of lab research — from resilient crop varieties to bio-based energy solutions.

Industry Speaks: Panel Discussion Highlights

A panel moderated by Dr. Ramesh V. Sonti, Director, ICGEB New Delhi, brought together industry leaders to share their perspectives on academic partnerships, challenges in scaling technologies, and the path forward under the BioE3 framework.

Panelists included:

  • Arvind Kumar – Prasad Seeds Pvt. Ltd.
  • Dr. Seetharam Annadana – Nuziveedu Seeds
  • Dr. Ajay Kumar – Bioseeds
  • Dr. Anupam Acharya – Mankind Agro
  • Shekhar Bisht – Insecticides India Ltd.

They called for deeper engagement with academia to speed up the lab-to-market transition, co-develop solutions, and unlock the potential of India’s biotech ecosystem.

About BioE3 Policy

Launched in 2024 and approved by the Union Cabinet, the BioE3 Policy integrates Biotechnology with Environment, Economy, and Employment. It aims to:

  • Strengthen India’s bioeconomy
  • Drive progress toward Net Zero carbon emissions by 2070
  • Boost innovation, sustainability, and job creation
