Michel Devoret is co-winner of the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics alongside John Clarke and John M. Martinis ‘for the discovery of macroscopic quantum tunnelling and energy quantisation in an electrical circuit.’ »

Télécom Paris graduate (1975), he is a French engineer, physicist and the F. W. Beinecke Professor of Applied Physics at Yale University, USA. He also holds a position as the Director of the Applied Physics Nanofabrication Lab at Yale. Currently, he is the Chief Scientist at Google Quantum AI.

He is known for his pioneering work on macroscopic quantum tunneling, and the single-electron pump as well as in groundbreaking contributions to initiating the fields of circuit quantum electrodynamics and quantronics.
