Il 15 maggio 2025 il PAV Parco Arte Vivente presenta Seeds of Time di Alan Sonfist, artista pioniere nella storia dei movimenti di Land Art e Earth Art, che nel suo lavoro ha messo al centro il rapporto tra arte ed ecologia.
La mostra personale esplora i primi anni di attività di Sonfist con un focus sugli anni Sessanta e Settanta ed evidenzia gli aspetti precursori del suo pensiero ecologico attraverso fotografie, video e materiali d’archivio.
Nel suo lavoro, Sonfist espande il concetto di comunità agli esseri non umani e concepisce le sue installazioni come monumenti pubblici che non guardano più solo agli eventi della storia umana, ma che celebrano l’intero ecosistema naturale, rivitalizzando così la storia dell’ambiente e delle diverse specie di un luogo.
In particolare nei suoi celebri Time Landscape (paesaggi del tempo), Sonfist ha studiato e ricreato la flora indigena di diversi luoghi grazie alla collaborazione con scienziate/i, politici, urbaniste/i e membri delle comunità locali, gettando luce sull’archeologia dei sistemi naturali e sull’impatto delle azioni antropiche.
La mostra è realizzata con il sostegno della Compagnia di San Paolo, della Fondazione CRT, della Regione Piemonte e della Città di Torino.

On 15th May 2025, PAV Parco Arte Vivente presents Seeds of Time by Alan Sonfist, a pioneering artist in the history of Land Art and Earth Art movements, who has centred his work on the relationship between art and ecology.
The solo exhibition explores the early years of Sonfist’s career, with a focus on the 1960s and 1970s, highlighting the precursor aspects of his ecological thinking through photographs, videos, and archival materials.
In his work, Sonfist expands the concept of community to include non-human beings, conceiving his installations as public monuments that no longer solely focus on events from human history but celebrate the entire natural ecosystem, thus revitalising the history of the environment and the various species of a place.
In particular, through his famous Time Landscape series, Sonfist studied and recreated the indigenous flora of various locations, in collaboration with scientists, politicians, urban planners, and members of local communities, shedding light on the archaeology of natural systems and the impact of human activities.
The exhibition is realised with the support of Compagnia di San Paolo, Fondazione CRT, Regione Piemonte and the City of Turin.
