The Valencian tech ecosystem reached 1,689 startups in September 2025, marking an 11.34% increase compared to the period from January to September 2024. Growth has also extended to the investment field. Startups from the Valencian Community have raised more than €160 million in 2025. 71% of startups received funding, representing a 66% increase compared to 2024.

In addition, the startup ecosystem added 234 new entities, reaching 2,014 organizations, a 13.15% increase over 2024. It now comprises a majority of service providers (114), followed by associations and communities (70), investors (39), universities and R&D centers (34), coworking spaces (32), accelerators and incubators (29), corporate venturing programs (27), and public institutions (13).

These figures come from the Valencian Region Startup Observatory, promoted by Startup Valencia with the support of the Department of Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism of the Generalitat Valenciana. The report will be presented on October 23 at 10:30 a.m. in the VIP Box of Fundación LAB during VDS 2025, alongside the LAB 2025 Observatory on R&D&I, technology and entrepreneurship in the Valencian Community, prepared by Fundación LAB and Ivie. It highlights that the region is advancing in R&D&I, technology, and entrepreneurship indicators, although it still shows weaknesses compared to the national average.

Both Observatories annually analyze the evolution of the main entrepreneurship, R&D&I, and technology indicators in the Valencian Community.

The Startup Observatory of the Valencian Community also notes that Valencian startups are hiring more employees, with 60% increasing team size compared to the same period last year, now generating 21,462 jobs.

In terms of geographical distribution, 89.58% of startups are concentrated in the province of Valencia, followed by Alicante (8.58%) and Castellón (1.84%); more than half of the startups (54.88%) already have an international market reach.

AI, the Most Prominent Technology

Artificial intelligence remains the most prominent technology in the Valencian startup ecosystem, with 28.75% of startups dedicated to it. Information and Communication Technology leads the ranking of new startup creation, with growth exceeding 225%. In second place, AI stands out again, with an 89.35% increase.

By sector, the number of startups dedicated to Business and Enterprise Solutions has grown by more than 66%, followed by nearly 50% growth in Legaltech and 42.41% in Cleantech, Energy and Sustainability.

The software sector continues to account for the largest number of startups, with 14.14%, followed by Business and Enterprise (10.38%) and Cleantech, Energy and Sustainability (7.18%).

Moreover, the Valencian tech ecosystem demonstrates a strong social and environmental commitment, as 85% of surveyed startups state they are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and 80% declare they pursue a triple impact (Social, Environmental, and Financial).

Valencia, a Global Tech Hub

For Ester Olivas, Director General for Entrepreneurship and Internationalization at the Generalitat Valenciana, the results of the Startup Observatory of the Valencian Community “endorse the work of the Consell led by Carlos Mazón” and “confirm a growth path that will continue to consolidate in the coming years.”

In this regard, Olivas highlighted the region’s capacity to strengthen its entrepreneurial ecosystem, attract talent, and generate employment, qualities “reflected in the analysis derived from the figures collected by the Observatory.”

According to Juan Luis Hortelano, President of Startup Valencia, the data show that Valencia is consolidating its position as one of the most dynamic tech hubs in Europe and a global benchmark for innovation. “The sustained growth of the Valencian ecosystem —in number of startups, investment attraction, and job creation— demonstrates that we are building a competitive, international environment with a strong social and environmental commitment,” he stated.

In this sense, the eighth edition of VDS, to be held on October 22 and 23 at the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, will be the visible head of this positioning. The international tech event is expected to bring together 12,000 attendees from 120 countries, more than 3,000 startups, 1,500 corporations, and 800 investors managing over €300 billion in assets.
