BORDEAUX, FRANCE (October 24, 2025) – Motion Twin, the award-winning cooperative behind indie phenomenon Dead Cells, is kicking off its second annual La Motion Week Steam event with a massive anniversary update for Windblown. Titled “Lost and Altered,” it celebrates one year of Early Access with a complete overhaul of the game’s core combat system, and the addition of a brand-new biome. The free update is available now.

Watch the new Windblown Lost and Altered Update video here.

The “Lost and Altered” update is the most ambitious yet, expanding the world while refining the moment-to-moment gameplay. Players will discover bold new challenges, powerful tools, and major quality-of-life features that add depth and strategy to every run through the Vortex.

  • Explore the Lost Archipelago: Journey to a vast new biome, the Lost Archipelago. Here you will meet new characters and undertake a quest to unravel mysteries of the Vortex’s past, battle a bestiary of 10 new enemies and their variants—from the agile Raptor to the imposing Golem Whip—and face the fearsome new boss: the Broken Banger
  • A Deeper, More Aggressive Combat System: The Alterattack system has been completely overhauled to reward aggressive, high-skill play. This fundamental rework adds new strategic depth to every weapon and encounter, moving away from simple spamming to encourage more tactical and daring combat chains.
  • Unleash a New Arsenal: Discover four powerful new melee weapons like the Golem Flail and Spinalsword, two new Trinkets built for crowd-control – Fireworks and Smokey Dokey, and four potent new Gifts hidden in secret areas. Also, further customize your build with 7 new high-impact Rare Affixes.
  • Enhanced Expeditions & New Systems: Major new features have been added to deepen the experience. Store equipment for later use with the Backpack, take on high-stakes challenges with the Killstreak Chest, and review your performance with the new Expedition Recap Screen

Full patch notes are available to read here.

While reflecting about the anniversary, Motion Twin said: “One year. We survived. A huge shout-out to our entire community for jumping headfirst into our beautiful, chaotic mess. You broke everything we built, found bugs we didn’t know were physically possible, and your ideas fueled all updates. Thanks for being the best co-conspirators a dev team could ask for. Now, let’s go together on the road to 1.0.”

Windblown is available now in Early Access on Steam, with the “Lost and Altered” update provided as a free download. The game is currently available at a 20% discount to celebrate La Motion Week, a special studio-led event on Steam.

The celebration also includes exciting news for Dead Cells fans: two new exclusive Youtooz plushies, featuring the Beheaded wielding the living sword Serenade, the first-ever plushie of the Queen, and a free collaboration in Color a Cube featuring colorable voxel models of three iconic characters.

True to Motion Twin’s development philosophy, the “Lost and Altered” update was built together with its community. Player feedback has been instrumental in shaping the game’s evolution throughout its first year. The developers invite all players to join the conversation and help guide the future of Windblown in the official Discord channel.
