On 28th November, the Italian #IRIDE Programme achieved a major milestone with the successful expansion of its second #Constellation, #EagletII, through the deployment into orbit of eight satellites designed, built and integrated by OHB Italia S.p.A.
Launched aboard a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California (US), the satellites were successfully inserted into orbit.
Several hours after liftoff, the acquisition of #signal from all units was confirmed by OHB Italia S.p.A.’s Mission Control Centre (#MCC) in Rome, marking a crucial operational achievement and the full activation of the Constellation.
This success represents a significant step forward for the IRIDE Programme, further enhancing Italy’s capabilities in #EarthObservation for environmental monitoring, resource management, national protection and security.
We extend our sincere thanks to the teams of European Space Agency – ESA, Agenzia Spaziale Italiana – ASI and to our industrial partners Aresys (for the payload data software), Optec SpA (for the telescope development), Telespazio, whose key contribution to the ground segment and Mission Control Centre operations, enabled the acquisition of the satellites’ signals and ensured the Constellation’s operational success.
