In the first days following the #launch of the eight OHB Italia S.p.A.‘s #EagletII satellites of the IRIDE programme, operational focus centred on the LEOP (Launch and Early Orbit Phase), one of the most critical stages for checking satellite status and initiating commissioning activities.
In this context, a central role is played by the global network of ground #antennas (provided by Leaf Space), the true bridge between our Eaglet II satellites in orbit and the mission control team on Earth.
The ability to quickly acquire the first #signals, receive #telemetry and ensure continuous #visibility is essential for assessing the satellites’ conditions and enabling timely corrective actions when required.
Alongside these communication infrastructures, LEOP also relies on the robustness of the Mission Control Centre (#MCC – developed by Telespazio), aimed to monitor and command the Eaglet II satellites during their initial orbits.
A reliable, integrated and high-performance system allows engineers to analyse onboard events in real time, validate critical parameters and coordinate activities with maximum precision.
LEOP is an exercise in operational #synergy: antennas, software, human expertise and engineering procedures converge to ensure that the satellites begin their operational life correctly.
