Fantastic news for German tennis fans: Alexander Zverev, Germany’s top-ranked player and current world No. 3, has confirmed his participation in the prestigious ATP 500 tournament at Rothenbaum, taking place from 16 to 23 May 2026. The Bitpanda Hamburg Open, organized by Tennium, is a special highlight for the Hamburg-born star – and another opportunity to lift the trophy at the iconic clay-court venue on Hallerstraße.

Zverev has been one of the most consistent world-class players on the ATP Tour for years. In 2025, he won the ATP 500 tournament in Munich, reached the final of the Australian Open, and qualified for the ATP Finals in Turin for the eighth time. He also recently led the German Davis Cup team to the semifinals in Bologna. His connection to Hamburg’s historic Center Court runs deep: from his ATP Tour debut in 2013 to his 2023 title and 2024 final, Rothenbaum has remained a meaningful stage throughout his career.

“I’m very happy that I’ll be back for the 2026 Bitpanda Hamburg Open. Competing at home is always special for me, and I can already feel the incredible energy that the Hamburg crowd brings every single year at Rothenbaum,” said Zverev about his return.

Enric Molina Mur, partner of Tennium and director of the Bitpanda Hamburg Open, highlighted the significance of Zverev’s commitment:
“Having Alexander Zverev return to the Bitpanda Hamburg Open is fantastic news for the tournament and for tennis fans across Germany. Sascha is our home star, one of the biggest global names in the sport, and his presence always creates a special atmosphere at Rothenbaum. His commitment to our tournament is highly appreciated, and we are very happy to announce him as our first confirmed player for what promises to be an outstanding week of world-class tennis in May 2026.”

In the coming weeks and months, fans can look forward to further announcements of world-class players joining the 2026 line-up. This traditional ATP 500 clay-court event – organized by Tennium – is one of the most prestigious tournaments worldwide.
