At just 22 years old, he already has 24 titles in his career, two Wimbledon, two Roland Garros, two US Open titles, in addition to being the current ATP world No. 1.

Carlos Alcaraz has confirmed his participation in the upcoming Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell – 72nd Trofeo Conde de Godó, which will be held at the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 from April 11 to 19, 2026. As a result, the current world No. 1 will be seeking his third title in Barcelona after his victories in 2023 against Stefanos Tsitsipas and in 2022 against Pablo Carreño. In 2025, he lost in an exciting final to Holger Rune, 6-7(6), 2-6.

Carlos Alcaraz is always very happy to return to play in Barcelona. “I’m very excited to be back in Barcelona and fight for my third title,” he says. “It’s a very special tournament for me, with a lot of history, and it’s played on courts I have known very well since I was a child. Also, having all the support from the fans in the stands makes it even more moving.”

For his part, Tommy Robredo, sporting director of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, is very enthusiastic about the participation of the player from Murcia. “It is an honor for us to have the best player in the world in our tournament. It has been clear in recent years that people want to see him, and being able to announce it is the best Christmas gift we tennis fans could ask for. Alcaraz is a player who makes the impossible possible. He can pull off spectacular shots that make him different from the rest,” says Robredo. In recent years, the Barcelona tournament has been a stepping stone to discover emerging stars such as Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud, and Holger Rune, who featured in the finals held in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Barcelona, a court he knows very well
Carlos Alcaraz made his first appearance on the RCTB-1899 courts at 11 years old and has played there numerous times since, eventually turning professional. Despite his youth, Alcaraz has many years of experience on clay of Barcelona, making him a very difficult player to beat.

In 2019, at 15 years old, the player from Murcia made his first appearance at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell thanks to a wild card from the organizers. He played in the qualifying rounds and lost his debut match against Portuguese player Pedro Sousa. In 2021, he debuted in the main draw for the first time at 17, falling in the first round to American Frances Tiafoe. In 2022, in his second main draw appearance in Barcelona, he won the title after defeating his training partner Pablo Carreño in the final, 6-3, 6-2. In 2023, Alcaraz lifted his second trophy in Barcelona after beating Nuno Borges, Roberto Bautista, Alejandro Davidovich, Daniel Evans, and Stefanos Tsitsipas (6-3, 6-4).
