The leading company in the LGBTQ+ segment and Europe’s largest multisector tourism club join forces to advance inclusive tourism.
At the International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR), we at Queer Destinations have signed a Letter of Intent with Club of Course to begin a strategic collaboration focused on training, visibility, and the promotion of best practices in diversity and non-discrimination within the tourism sector.
The agreement, formalized through the signing of a framework document during FITUR, establishes a joint work plan aimed at professionalizing service for LGBTQ+ travelers and granting Club of Course the Queer Destinations Committed distinction. As part of this process, the entire Club of Course team will take part in our Hospitality Meets Diversity training. The Letter of Intent also defines the responsibilities both parties assume to ensure an operational, communicative, and measurable implementation of this collaboration.
“Signing this Letter of Intent means translating rhetoric into action. In today’s context, taking a clear stance and actively working for inclusion and non-discrimination is essential—not only for businesses and establishments, but for society as a whole. It has a direct impact on the lives of millions of people,” said Oriol Pamies, founder of Queer Destinations.
Edgar Weggelaar, CEO of Queer Destinations, emphasized the importance of diversity training for tourism professionals:
“When Europe’s largest multisector tourism club shows a genuine commitment to equal opportunities and fair treatment, it offers far more than visibility. It creates opportunities for greater understanding of a community that, unfortunately, still continues to face discrimination and misinformation that threaten its well-being and safety.”
For his part, Xavier Borràs, President of Club of Course, stated:
“At Club of Course, this collaboration with Queer Destinations represents a long-awaited and deeply desired alliance. We share a clear vision and strong values around diversity, inclusion, and respect, and we want to promote this commitment together with all the companies that are part of Club of Course, fostering a more conscious, responsible, and inclusive tourism model.”
A growing market segment
International studies on LGBTQ+ tourism conducted by UNWTO and IGLTA identify this segment as a global market of tens of millions of travelers, characterized by lower seasonality and higher average spending than the overall tourism market. According to Coherent Market Insights, the economic potential of LGBTQ+ tourism reached an estimated USD 357 billion in 2025 and could grow to USD 604 billion by 2032.
