Director-General Dr. Lawrence Banks Leads Inauguration at ICGEB New Delhi

The ICGEB New Delhi today marked a significant milestone in strengthening its advanced research capabilities with the inauguration of the BD FACS Cell Sorter facility. The facility was formally inaugurated by Dr. Lawrence Banks, Director-General of ICGEB, and Ramesh V. Sonti, Director, ICGEB New Delhi.
Housed within the BSL-III complex, within the ICGEB New Delhi campus, the BD FACS Cell Sorter is a state-of-the-art flow cytometry platform designed to enable high-precision cell sorting and detailed immunological analyses. The addition of this advanced instrument will significantly enhance ICGEB’s capabilities in immunology research, supporting ongoing studies in host–pathogen interactions, immune responses, and translational biomedical research. The facility is funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Government of India, reflecting strong national support for cutting-edge biomedical research.
Following the inauguration, Dr. Banks and Dr. Sonti visited the Immunobiology Research Group, where they interacted with the Group Leader, Dr. Ved Prakash Dwivedi, and his research team.
The establishment of the BD FACS Cell Sorter underscores ICGEB New Delhi’s continued commitment to strengthening scientific infrastructure and fostering high-impact research in immunology and infectious diseases.
