The INFORMA Forests project, coordinated by José Vicente Oliver, researcher at the ITACA Institute of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), was present at the EFI Mediterranean Network Forum 2026, held from March 23 to 27 in Valencia.
The event, promoted by the European Forest Institute (EFI), brought together more than 160 participants from across Europe and the Mediterranean region—such as Lebanon, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, and Egypt—as well as more than 20 online attendees.
Specifically, the INFORMA Forests project gained visibility through the exhibition of posters and the dissemination of promotional materials, such as roll-ups and informational brochures, made available to attendees.
Participation in the EFI Mediterranean Network Forum 2026
In addition, researchers from the ICTs Against Climate Change (ICTvsCC) team at ITACA actively participated in the forum: Eduardo Rojas Briales took part as a speaker in one of the sessions, while José Vicente Oliver moderated another session.
Although no specific presentations on the INFORMA Forests project were given, ITACA researchers contributed to the scientific discussion by addressing issues aligned with their main research lines, including sustainable forest management, adaptation to climate change, and the provision of ecosystem services.
“Our goal is to transform scientific evidence into useful tools for decision-making in forest management, especially in regions as vulnerable to climate change as the Mediterranean”, said José Vicente Oliver, head of the ICTs Against Climate Change (ICTvsCC) group at ITACA-UPV.
Furthermore, Eduardo Rojas Briales, also a researcher at ITACA, highlighted that “it is essential to address in an integrated way challenges such as carbon capture, biodiversity conservation, and the sustainable supply of forest resources, especially in scenarios of increasing climate pressure”.
Final presentation of the INFORMA Forests project results
On June 4, the MUVIM will host the final conference of the INFORMA project, a meeting for stakeholders from across Europe where the initiative’s main results and impacts will be presented.
The event will bring together experts and professionals in the field to share knowledge and experiences on sustainable forest management, climate change adaptation, and the provision of ecosystem services. The full program and registration details will be announced soon.
